Giving Thanks to Pachamama.

Happy Pachamama's Month! Pachamama means "Mother Earth" in the ancient Quechua language.

Pachamama (Mother Earth) is the female goddess of the earth and fertility, an agricultural deity conceived as the mother who nurtures, protects, and sustains the human being.

The cult of the offering to the Pachamama begins on the first day of August and is the oldest, and most sacred, shamanic ritual in my native country Perú.

Pachamama Day is celebrated every year on August 1 among the indigenous peoples of the Central Andes of South America.

Pachamama Ritual

The rite establishes that we must deliver to Mother Earth everything that we do not want our family to lack during the year.

Pachamama is "fed" by introducing various typical local foods into the hole.

Families and neighbors gather to dig a hole in the ground, which will be decorated with streamers and confetti.

Next, the Pachamama is "fed" by introducing various typical local foods into the hole. They offer a variety of seeds, fruits, sweets, tobacco, flowers, and drinks such as chicha, and wine. These offerings are burned or buried thanking the earth from the heart with much "munai" (love).

The important thing is that every small offering is completely natural, symbolizing us giving back what we have already taken from the Earth.

Pachamama Celebration

You can participate in the celebration of Pachamama during our Sound Bath Meditation on August 20th at 10:00 am.

We will honor Mother Earth with offerings, and rose petals, and I will play Peruvian Shamanic instruments.

We'll thank Pachamama for the favors received during the past year, and to wish for blessings, prosperity, health, and protection of us and our family from harm.
